Innovation, safety, and vision: ARTURO takes flight!

West Sicily Gate continues to lead the way in the adoption of advanced technologies for port infrastructure management and security with the launch of operations of the autonomous drone “Arturo” at the Cruise Terminals in the Port of Palermo.

Thanks to its Drone-in-a-Box technology, Arturo can autonomously take off, perform scheduled or on-demand missions, and return to its charging station, representing one of the most advanced operational applications currently available in the industry.

The initial objective is the monitoring and deterrence of unwanted bird activity, but the potential of this technology extends far beyond that: quay operations monitoring, patrol of concession areas, access surveillance, and support for HSE and Security activities.

With this project, West Sicily Gate is not simply introducing a new operational tool; it is paving the way for an innovative model of Cruise Terminal management, where automation, efficiency, and safety work together to enhance operational performance and sustainability.

The future of port operations is already here.

And in Palermo, it has a name: Arturo.
